can’t get imap email account to work on iPhone

is there any reason I can’t get email to work on iPad or iPhone using an IMAP account?
when setting up the account, I keep getting the message that the username or password is incorrect, but I can log into the webmail page with same username & password & can get in fine!

Are you using the Outlook Mail app, whats the name of the mail app you are using to sign in to? What is the email provider as well of the IMAP account? You could see if there’s an update available for the app you’re using > App Store > profile icon upper right hand side > Scroll down to see if there’s an update available. You could also try removing and installing the app again.

using the mail app that comes with the iPhone & iPad. email is provided by Logix, who just “upgraded” their email, which has been a huge cluster***k, to put it mildly! all Apple devices are up to date & while I hadn’t tried deleting account & re-adding it back on, I tried on another iPad that never had an email account on it previously. I didn't think that app could be removed.
This is almost surely a combination of 2x factors.

1) A TLS protocol mismatch between your iPhone + Logix.

2) The error being returned by Logix is incorrect + the iPhone is reporting a user/pass mismatch, rather than TLS protocol mismatch.

This situation is very common these days.

To debug this might be possible + also might require no longer using Logix.

Provide the following for debug assistance.

1) The iOS version you're running on your iPhone.

2) The iOS on your iPad + if you were able to get mail working on your iPad (it's unclear from your comment).

3) The Logix hostname + IP + port you're using to access your mail.

Yeah, the way they dropped the ball on this, no longer using Logix is right near the top of that list!
IOS on phone was the one prior to 14.0. I had user update it, in the event this didn't work, or maybe there was a bug that would be fixed, etc.
Not sure on any iPad version, other than my own, which is 12.4.8. I figured I'd use mine as a guinea pig, since I don't use my own email on it, anyway. That was where I was getting the message that name or password was wrong, but was able to log into the webmail page with no problems.
Not sure of the IP address for Logix, but host name is mymail.logixcloud.com & that's the same for POP3, IMAP & SMTP. One of the girls in the office had no problems setting her iPhone up, using POP3, but that's really, really waaaay down the list of options. Probably consider moving to Godaddy or someone else for the mail, at that point.
Some email platforms (like Gmail) have IMAP off by default. You need to log into the web interface and explicitly enable IMAP. And stop using POP3!  ;-)

Spent about 2 hours on the phone with the one guy at Logix that knows whats going on & things are working now.
Things I tried about fourteen times yesterday & errored out are working fine today.
Now, for my next part of this project, getting his folder structure & messages from old system to the new one.
Looking for recommendations on converting an ost to a pst, as I have access to the old system for 7 days.
Tried exporting to pst & old get the folder structure, none of the messages inside them.
I know there are third party companies out there (or maybe an option from M$?), just looking fior the best one, that won't break the bank!
You need to lift the filters applied, look in the lower left area of Outlook. Here is one of my videos about it. Then you can export all the email to a PST.

I'd skip migrating to Godaddy's Office365/get a fresh account with Microsoft direct or via a CSP. You'll end up moving off Godaddy in time probably, costing the client more money.

I wasn't considering the full office 365 package, just one of their hosted email programs, as Logix has a 50MB (yes, that's MB with an M) mailbox size limit & charges .03 per MB for anything over that!
What's the knock on Godaddy?
They answer the phones & speak English as good or better than me. I've never had any issues with them.

Did my filters applied fix help? You have asked now 3 questions in one question, hard to track points lol.

yeah, sorry, as one thing has seemed to lead to another!
no, I didn't try that, because by the time I had seen that answer, things were working as they should be. still waiting for a call back from Logix's tech support (over 3 hours now) for a reason as to how & why.

I think you should start a new question for that and award points in this question.
