Best Way to Format a Flash Drive

1.  Take whatever Windows offers as the default.  Usually this will be FAT32 or exFAT.  NTFS can cause unexpected problems because it supports ownership and protection on folders and files.

2.  Take whatever Windows offers as the default.  Overly large clusters waste space when many files are present.

3.  Quick format.  Full formatting takes much longer and wears the drive out.
