What kind of SATA HDD can I install on my laptop? (Capacity, Brand, etc.) Lenovo 17IMH05H
I see that I can add one SATA drive to this laptop?
Can I get some recommendations on brands and models? Needless to say, I'd like a super-reliable model. Even if it means paying a few bucks more.
Here is my space in the laptop: HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high
Is that the normal space for a laptop SATA HDD?

Buy a 2,5" SSD of 7mm. I buy Samsung in the last months.

Samsung will cost a bit more, but should be very reliable. WD Black are another good choice. strivoli is correct that 2.5" and 7mm is important, but most drives are that thickness now.

QUESTION: Is it okay for me to install a SSD drive into the slot that the manufacturer says should be used for a SATA drive?

Hey Everyone: I don't mind paying more for a higher-quality drive. I just want to ensure that I'll be able to install it into a slot that Lenovo says can be a SATA drive.
SATA and SSD are defining different things. SATA is a type of bus for devices to connect to the host (motherboard). In this context it goes along with two connectors on the edge of the storage device to which the two cables (power and data) connect.
SSD (Solid State Drive) refers to the type of storage media inside the device. An SSD uses no moving parts, just electronic components. An HDD (Hard Disk Drive) uses spinning magnetic media and read/write heads and other mechanical parts.
Unless there is something really odd with a device (unlikely) any common 2.5" 7mm SATA SSD should work.

sata = Serial ATA, as opposed to Parallel ATA drives = IDE connection
i suppose you will use it for Data storage? if you want it cheaper, you can even use a normal HDD 2.5" drive ( unless you need the SSD speed) https://www.amazon.com/Blue-2TB-Mobile-Hard-Drive/dp/B079BQS5WQ
2TB for 76.50$
