asked on

do you want use Hitachi Vantara as NAS?

interested to see if anyone uses Hitachi Vantara as a NAS solution.  (file share).  or how do you use it?

does it work better than Isilon or other enterprise NAS solutions?

what is your feedback.  we are considering but wanted to ask someone that owns it before talking to sales.

Vantara is a HCI -- storage/compute/networking platform. Not the right product if you want a NAS (Is a SAN vice a NAS product) Hitachi does offer a NAS solution for the medium enterprise https://www.hitachivantara.com/en-us/products/storage/network-attached-storage/nas-platform.html

can t tell you about the nas but i vouch for the quality of hitachi drives. hitachi is the one and only vendor i would have a hard time determining failure frequency even on busy servers as they often outlived my duration and the duration of all the people i stayed in touch with wherever i used them.

when setting up dozens of drives for busy servers, i have seen failures the first or at best second year with every other vendor.
