format usb for car
I have a 2012 buick lacross that has a usb port. I have plugged in a kingstom usb 3.0 32 GB drive and it works. I have added music and I can play the songs. I also have a 128GB Kingston usb 3.0 drive that I formatted as exFAT a few weeks ago. This drive will not work in the car. Does anyone know what I can format it to that it might work?
any reason you used exFat ?? as said Fat 32 should be used
@nobus : 128GB is probably the reason.
if you partition the key, the car should probably be able to play songs from the first partition if it is formatted as fat32.
you can try to format the drive with ntfs or ext2 but i would not keep my hopes up if exfat does not work. it is even possible large keys are simply not supported.

let the asker respond to my post plse...
gladly. but you cannot format a partition greater than 32G with Fat32 using windows unless you do that from the command line or use a third party app.
@mkramer : you can try to format your 128bits key using the windows "format" command. beware that might take a while.

The reason I used exfat is because I was given the drive by an employee and I formatted it with FAT32 and then I couldn't use the 128GB so I formatted it with exfat to use all of the space.
have you tried formatting the 128GB using a third party tool, a linux box, or the format command ?
that should allow to format all of the 128GB and would be your best bet imho.

you really should try to format the 128gb as fat32.
