Troubleshooting Question

getting Error attempting to email results of a log query using Send-MailMessage

Last Modified: 2020-10-27
I have written a PS script to query a log for user logins. the script works but I need to run in on a daily basis and email the results. I am having a problem with the Send-MailMessage command. I get the following error -
Send-MailMessage : The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated
I am not using the - credential in the PS script. I did not designate port 25 or port 587.
The SMTP server is an on premise Exchange 2013 sever. I can send email using Telnet to this server anonymously.
I also have an issue just sending a simple Send-MailMessage command with to/from, subject, body, SMTP server and port 25. there is no error, just a line return and a ">>" as if it is waiting for more input. Not sure what to supply here.
Any information you have to assist with this will be very much appreciated.

Thank you
