IT equipment and configuration assessment on new client's IT equipment, configuration and software

New client has no documentation on their network.  Needing a template of some kind that provides information I should enter into a Work or Excel spreadsheet when assessing a new customer's network equipment for the 1st time.  The equipment would include everything from their desktop/laptops, server(s), router/firewall, switch(es), network printers, ISP, to network settings, etc...
Can someone have a such a template that can be shared?

If you are looking for an inventory solution, I would use one of these. Paid versions should offer more features but free versions are usually good enough if you are looking for a basic inventory. I prefer Lansweeper and Spiceworks.

Paid:
Lansweeper - https://www.lansweeper.com/product-overview/
PDQ Inventory - https://www.pdq.com/pdq-inventory/

Free
Spiceworks - https://www.spiceworks.com/free-asset-management-software/
System Inventory Tool - https://www.manageengine.com/products/free-windows-tools/free-system-inventory-tool.html
I vote for Lansweeper. I use it daily.

I have the inventory solution, thanks.  What I'm looking for is a MS Word template or possible Excel spreadsheet template that will not only list nodes detected on a network but, also list items as a check off list.  Something that will provide us with "network documentation" (there currently is no documentation on this client's network) on the network anytime we need to access the system.  Ie.. everything from the number of users to the types of network devices, desktops, server(s), type of configurations (router settings, firewall settings, server settings, etc....)  This knowledge will help in delving into assisting and/or troubleshooting rather than learning what the settings are each time.  Thanks.
IT inventory should have the following inside:

  • Data-center (Main and Recovery) infrastructure and components; detailing: Brand, Model, Function, Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Networking equipment (e.g., switch, router, load balancing, etc.); providing at least: Brand, Model, Networking interfaces. Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Processing equipment (e.g., mainframe, server); providing at least: Brand, Model, CPU, RAM, Disk, Networking interfaces, Operating system. Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Virtualization infrastructure providing at least: Brand, Model, Operating system supported: Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Data management equipment (e.g., storage, tape manager, back-up, etc.); providing at least: Brand, Model, Capacity, Networking interfaces. Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • IT security equipment (e.g., firewall, proxy, SIEM, WAF, ACL, antivirus servers and end-point, email filters, etc.); providing at least: Brand, Model, Networking interfaces. Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Data management tools (database manager, index/relative/flat files managers); providing at least: Brand, Version, Operating system, Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Software list, providing at least: Manufacturer / In-House; programming language, list of programs, lines of code, primary function or usage, type of processing (batch / on-line): manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.

  • Applications interfacing with the public/private (routable/non-routable) mapping Ports and IP.

  • Data management tools (database manager, index/relative/flat files managers); providing at least: Brand, Version, Operating system, Manufacture date, Procurement date, Implementation date, End of support date.
