Which NAS to buy for home lab - shared storage for vSphere lab.

Hello, decided to go for a NAS box to use with my home lab so i can learn DRS, vMotion, HA. And also looking to replicate the set up at work where there are two ESXi servers connected to a SAN using HA

Got 2 NUCs set up currently but I cant decide which storage box to go for. Got around £150 to £225 (without disks) to spend and would lean toward the Synology as they have already been recommended on here.

Is it best to go for a NAS box with two NICs or will one do for my lab? Whats the benefit of having two NICs on a NAS box anyway?

One or two disks should be fine and looking at adding one or two of these:

One option, this model:

Or this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Synology-DS218j-DS218J-Diskstation/dp/B076G6YKWZ/ref=psdc_430553031_t3_B084CLC39K

Any preferences? Or other shared storage boxes any would like to recommend? many thanks, Dave

You could always save your money and use StarWind vSAN to make a virtual SAN on your hosts.
Thanks everyone - went for a 4 bay unit.
