Chrome still behaving badly

This may be related to https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/29198359/Chrome-screwed-up-or-maybe-by-Avast.html

Using Chrome on my Windows 10 PC is still spotty, especially with gmail. It still, about half the time, says gmail not found/ does not exist. Same also with other sites I am either developing or use often. All sites that I KNOW exist and can easily access with Firefox.

I have turned Avast off, but there is still a piece called Avast Antitrack Premium. Should I remove that too? I am now using Windows Defender and MalwareBytes.

You have 3 antivirus solutions on a single system, which is not advised.
Yes, I would remove the Avast completely. Also, remove any extensions from Chrome.

it is ok... Windows defender disables itself whenever you have another AV solution
also malwarebytes can be used on-demand...
no need to delete anything...

I have the same thing + much more on my system :)
hello,

  1. Try to clear the Cookies and Cache
  2. Sometimes, Gmail won’t load in Chrome on Windows 10 properly because of the installed extensions or add-ons on the browser Try temporarily disabling them one by one, then open Gmail again and check
  3. Try to reset chrome-->settings-->advanced-->reset
  4. Check if chrome needs updates
  5. If nothing work try to reinstall chrome

Elie,

The behvior is not consistent. It will work for hours, then when I try to reload gmail, it gives me that not found garbage for mail.google.com. I will try disabling extensions.
this looks a bad wi-fi connection

what is your internet speed?

test it here

yes try this, and try to remove chrome, and reinstall it again, if you're saying that using another browser works fine, then for sure it's a chrome issue
26.8 Mb per second
Did you face the same issue on Firefox or explorer?
Elie,

No, I just deinstalled Chrome addon related to Avast, have not yet had time to try Chrome.
this should be the first think that you should try in order to check if the issue is related to the browser itself before removing anything else.
Gmail did have a high volume of problem reports on the 10th. I also recommend looking at DownDetector status reports linked below whenever you notice problems regarding specifically Gmail you‘ll see in the comments section threaded at the very bottom and check out the outage map area reports to see highlighted locations. Some oddly mentioned on/off issues with different browsers too. So it might be a glitch on their side regarding Gmail.

But you’re seeing issues with other sites still, so It is starting to sound like a Chrome performance issue if you have gone ahead and removed all Avast products and issues remain. I would definitely recommend trying what Elie suggests as I too have had to clear the cache completely more recently too to resolve access issues.

It seems most Experts initially and me as well were only suggesting removal of all Avast products, extensions etc. as that seemed to be exactly when you noticed issues after that update.
I deinstalled the remaining Avast Tracker Blocker or whatever is is called. Gmail & all other sites load & function FAST & like before.

So I learned my lesson.

Thanks to you all.

Richard
Awesome!  But if you happen to notice issues with Gmail and Chrome in the future still try what Elie suggests first clearing the cache etc. and do reference the DownDetector site above for especially Gmail. Gmail has been having quite a few service issues too.
I clear the cache a lot on Chrome for other reasons, I am a web developer, my cache gets full of older versions I have just updated on the web server.

Thanks
