When DC Motors behave as Constant Current loads during Motor Running phase of their operation?

I need to understand the concept behind DC Motors behavior during running conditions, I have read that they are regarded as Constant Power loads but can they act as constant current loads when they are connected to DC Battery.

DC motors require commutation, so the current cannot be constant.  V = L di/dt, a perfect DC voltage source holds its voltage so di/dt must be limited and I changes at every commutation.

Thanks for your responses but I thought the battery with various loads cannot hold a Voltage Value during discharge and its voltage varies as time increases and yes if the torque of the motor remains the same then its current drawn remain same. So technically it is wrong to treat dc motor as a constant current source with varying source voltage?
When the motor is commutated the current changes.  So no, it is not a constant current device.  Ideally it might be treated as such but not in the real world.
