Possible move to VMware

We are researching moving to VMware vSphere 7.0 in a HA setup.

Current domain is very old and is still running as a domain.local and we would like to move to something like internal.domain.com or similar based on best practices.

After setting up VMware and new Windows Server 2019 VM's we will create a new domain

Windows Server 2019 VM's:
Domain Controller
File Server
Terminal Server
Accounting Server
Testing Server

Storage array is a Dell EMC ME4024

Can the users, computers, file share structures, and other Active Directory info be migrated from the domain.local to the new internal.domain.com ( i know that SID's are a problem when attempting anything like this, and I believe its not possible but wanted to make sure ). I was hoping that there are some tools available to assist with this type of migration.

We have around 100 Win 10 PC's that would need to be joined to the new domain.

Some experience from the Experts would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance for any help...

Vince

Main consideration will be the performance drop running heavy VM software.

For example, create a test VM for your file server, then do some performance testing to ensure VM speed is acceptable.

David,

Would be very difficult to recreate the file server to test it, since we don't have the new hardware to test it on.

We are moving the file server from 2008 R2 to Win Server 2019 Standard
We will be running two Dell EMC R740's each with:
2 - Intel Xeon Silver 4215
128gigs of 3200 RDIMM
480gig SSD (Raid 1) for the OS

File storage will be on a Dell EMC ME4024 with 8 - 1.2 TB 10k SAS12

Thanks
