Need a clean resync of android phone contacts from gmail

I'm having struggles with getting getting my contacts (up in Google) to resync correctly with my Galaxy phone.  It's an S20 so the Android is relatively current.

What I'd like to do is just wipe all the contact info on the phone and resync from Google.  I don't want wiping out my phone to erase anything on Google though.  It's just my phone I want to clean up.

How can I do this?

Hi
You may follow this method:

  1. Disable syncing by going to “Settings” > “Accounts” > “Google“. Select your Google account and uncheck “Sync Contacts“. If you sync contacts with other apps such as Facebook or Twitter, be sure to disable syncing for those apps as well.
  2. Go to “Settings” > “Applications” > “Manage applications” > “All” > “Contacts” > “Storage” and select “Clear data“.
Note: This will also clear other data like your recent calls and Favorites.

After that, re-enable the Google syncing going to the step 1.

Tip: You may also visit https://contacts.google.com to browse your contacts and delete or edit contacts before you sync to your phone. You may also make an export copy (vcard or CSV) as a backup to be safe side.

Regards
