poison message queue and failing inbound email
We have a single Microsoft Small Business Server Running Exchange 2010 and we suddenly started having problems receiving email. On investigation, I note a Poison Message Queue has appeared when we use the Queue Viewer. We cannot actually view the messages as it just shows a Microsoft Exchange error :- "The Queue Viewer operation on computer "Servername" has failed with an exception. The error message is : The remote procedure call failed. It was running the command "get-message -ResultSize "1000" - ReturnPageInfo $True -server "servername" +FromAddress" - SearchForward $true -BookmarkObject $null -BookmarkIndex "-1" -IncludeBookmark $false"
I note that when I look at MXTOOLBOX the smtp connection is still working OK.
I have tried various ways to remove the Poison Message queue which always contains 2 messages.
Can anyone advise what I need to do to get the server receiving incoming mail?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.

+1 for replacing the SBS Server. It has various unpatched vulnerabilities for exploits that can be executed by non authenticated users from the Internet resulting in complete takeover.

many thanks, your recommendations are not lost on me! :) I have been trying to get them to migrate for several years now. :( Financial constraints are the reasons. I have explained about the potential problems and I think, after this, I am beginning to see the realization dawn on them.
The Poison Queue with constantly 2 messages in it is constantly present, but currently mail is flowing.
I am cautiously optomistic but not holding my breath.
I just dont understand why I just cant remove those emails in the queue, as I dont like seeing things loitering.
If there is anything further you feel I should do, I would welcome the advice.
Many thanks.

Just that your SBS2011 really end of life on Jan 2020 so I will suggest you to plan to migrate as soon as possible.
