AD attributes vs AD-Schema

I am trying to document the AD-recovery plan and have question on Schema. I hope someone will clear my doubt. AD is not my strength.

We have a backup software and it has a AD-Recovery tools. We can recover the AD-attributes and object with that tools as per their KB/document.

I noticed from time to time , our Exchange admin runs schema updates during the CU updates.

1. Is schema update is something to do with AD-attributes and if something goes wrong then we can recover the schema changes by restoring  AD-attributes?

If it is not the same,  then

2. Can we roll back to old schema version in case if anything goes wrong withe the schema update?

The schema and attributes are two different things. The schema is the collection of database fields available for each type of object. The AD-attributes are the specific values associated with a single object.

That said, I wouldn't worry at all about schema updates from a Microsoft developed tool. Any changes would generally be adding new types of attributes, and not any cause for concern.
