Is there a social network alternative to facebook that allows share and contacts on a desktop computer?

I got on to parler.com, and find that there is no "share parlet" to connect with friends and colleagues.  Although parler help doesn't clarify the matter, I'm informed that there is no sharing to gain contacts to join my network unless it is to use "contacts" on my smart phone.  But since I am moving away from this face book-dependent environment, I don't want to be  confined to phone mobile networking.  Is there any good alternative to meet my needs?

Well, I don't know that it will meet your needs exactly, but if I understand your needs correctly there is LinkedIN - https://www.linkedin.com/
myspace.com is still around and kicking.

Privacy friendly alternatives:
mastodon - https://joinmastodon.org/
nextcloud social plugin - https://nextcloud.com   & https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/social

With nextcloud you have 100% control of data when used on a private server.

Thanks for comments.  I'm still on linkedin, and I may retain that one.  I had forgotten.  I will look into "my space" - I had forgotten that one also.   I also think I need to investigate the more "private friendly" means suggested by noci - mastodon and nextcloud.  Thanks for all the good suggestions!
Nextcloud + Social, mastodon, and sever others do allow for a distributed social network. Where each can select their own. Not the monopolistic facebook that only knows facebook.
You can link up between users on mastodon and nextcloud and several other that all ocooperate using a standard API.
