Multi-Language Support for Iseries Applications

Our developers have a project where they want to allow multi-language support for an in-house application. They already have a language file that they store on the iSeries for every instance of text in English and Spanish.  They have a new request to add Burmese.  This language uses different characters...

Does anyone know what would be involved in setting up support for this?

We are currently running iSeries version 7.3

Thanks

Hello Metthew,

I'm not sure but I think that this only can be done with DBCS support. The workaround is to get the information from a local Burmese PC and store it in an Graphic field;
SQL type Graphic or
DDS type "G" (indicate DBCS-Graphic data)
We do this for Chinese and it works fine, but reading the data on green-screens is not possible

ASKER

I opened a PMR with IBM and they indicated that their was no CCSID for Burmese and that the only option would to migrate the entire application to Unicode (which apparently is no trivial task).
