How to add another VLAN to a Cisco Router
Hi -
I have three stacked C3750E core L3 switches, that connect to some stacked L2 cisco switches WS-C2960S-48FPS-L. I am trying to add a new VLAN with the following network subnet/IP- 172.22.23.0/24 - NOW Below are my interface information and I noticed that I have a VLAN120 which is our active wired VLAN. You will see below that this VLAN has 172.22.23.254 which I believe is the default gateway for 172.22.22.0/22? I am confused here, and believe maybe the 172.22.23.0 is already present? I connected my laptop to the interface assigned to VLAN120 on the L2 switch and I received a 172.22.22.0 - Address. I am trying to create a network subnet for another network for 172.22.23.0/24?
On my L2 and L3 switches currently

Ok, great thank you. Can I assigned a VLAN to a range within that subnet? Example; the 172.22.23.0?
ASKER
I appreciate all your help, and I am sorry if I'm asking very basic questions here. Thank you!
as per your configuration this subnet is configured for Vlan 120 already created on your devices, in case you need to create a different VLAN then you should allocate a different subnet that is not used.

If I create a new subnet 172.22.25.0/22, what would be the steps.
Create a new VLAN125 on core switch?
Create a DHCP scope on same server with existing scopes?
How would I make sure VLAN125 (new) would be updated on all L2 switches that are currently already connected?

you have to create
Vlan 125 all your layer 2 switches manually or if your using VTP you just create it on the server and it will be propagated to the switch client.
On your layer 3 SW's create an interface Vlan similar to the above but change the IP addresses.
In case you have Trunk ports between the switch make sure that the new Vlan is allowed., in your case you have port-channel, so this new vlan should pass through the port channel. If you're allowing all Vlan's on the trunk interface, then you don't need to add the new vlan to it

I think I understand, now I will attempt to do it. One last question. I have another VLAN which is our wireless, how do I ensure this new vlan can communicate with the wireless VLAN and no other? Thank you so much! I really appreciate all your help.
You can create an access list on your layer 3 switch to allow wireless range and deny any other and apply it on your interface vlan 125

Ok, I have created a VLAN on one switch to test.
