Photo Management using Google Photos

I may have made a determination that using photos.google.com for picture management may provide the best solution. This is mostly because they seem to do a good job of automatically grouping them and providing people recognition.

I have a Windows Surface Go that I use for most stuff.  I like this laptop because it's small and lets me connect to a second display as-needed

I don't have enough space to sync my photos folder with Google Photos though on that device. This is not a problem if I were to set it up to move instead of sync to my photos.google.com page. Whenever I drop new files into the pictures folder on my Surface Go, I would like them to be moved automatically to my photos.google.com location online.

What is the best way to set up this "move vs sync" scenario?

I use Google Photos myself. It is pretty cool in how you can call up pictures. I have pics that go back to 2004. If i want to see Puppies and don't remember when I took those pictures, just search "puppies" and those pics show up.It's scary good how it works.

You want move. Sync I believe will stay on your hard drive. Most of my photos are uploaded by my phone and I have it set to upload directly and not stay on my phone.
I could be wrong, but I think you could look into using their Backup and Sync app too for Google Photos and Google Drive and choosing the Picture folder.

Ok, so I set up backup and sync with the preference to never remove both copies as well as to upload newly added pictures in the pictures folder to google photos and the indicator confirms that it has finished processing 12 minutes ago.

The problem I see currently is that I still have folders inside the pictures folder that I do not see at my photos.google.com online.

Is it moving everything except folders?

I was wondering if there were any additional automatic tools out there for Google Photos uploading. I just came across PicBackMan, it looks  interesting as an alternative for mirroring folder structures and individual photos. Claims to remove and prevent duplication. It seems it helps with eliminating manual backups and they can be scheduled as well. The free version appears to have some limitations over the quantity of photos that can be uploaded etc, but it may be worth checking it out still.

Maintaining the folder structure that is on the PC does not seem to be doable. Google tries to prevent the use of folders and uses Albums instead in order to give you the ability to have the same picture show up wherever you need it. I can live with that.
