asked on

local clients cant ping domain.local

After getting a new ISP none of the workstations can ping domain.local
The Server is a Windows 2012 Essentials and it has DNS Role,
THe ISP router/modem is Server DHCP and i setup the DNS to point to the server.

The clients dns is pointing to the server for dns.
If i ping server by hostname it resolves. If i ping domain.local it doesnt.

Have you tried flushing the computer DNS cache?
Also, try this:
Go to CMD
enter nslookup
and then write server.

What's the output?
(See attached example)

Im not sure if its the Comcast Modem. I set the machines to all static and it seems to work. I will try to get dhcp on the server working and try it that way.

The Windows server should be the DHCP server. Disable it on the router. The DHCP scope on the server should be giving its own IP as the DNS server.
