Cisco Switch Interface has orange light - inbound access list is not set cisco switch
It's saying the interface is down, check your physical connectivity.
ASKER
I connected to my laptop and my light doesn't come on.
ASKER
On the switch, I have a steady orange light. Thanks.

Ok so, I changed access ports from patch panel to switch and I finally got an IP and laptop worked, now as soon as I plugged in the new device, the interface went orange and now it is down. This is a interface that was just up.
Do you have port security configured on the port.
Put
Show run int gi3/0/3

Here you go...I apologize for delay.
interface GigabitEthernet3/0/3
description Wired_Clients
switchport access vlan 120
switchport mode access
spanning-tree portfast
end

there is nothing wrong in the configuration, at least when you connect the port to the switch, he should be up, down means not physically connected. Try to connect the laptop to the switch directly without patch panel and check.
more when you connect the cable to the switch, put show log, you should see the port changed status in the logging.

I plugged directly into switch. It seems as though there is no cable plugged into it.
try to plug to another port on the switch
ASKER
I then plugged it into another switch access port and it works. Is it maybe because it is POE enabled and the device doesn't like it. It almost seems as the port is bad now. That is two different ports.
Did you check the logging?
Are you trying to connect a poe device?
Are you trying to connect a poe device?
ASKER
Never mind, I don't think inline power is supported for that interface.
Are trying to plug in a poe device?
ASKER
No it's not a POE device. The only thing in the logs is when I plugged into port next to bad port.
ASKER
If I plug in the device into gi3/0/4 it will take it down as well most likely.
So you've try it on gi3/0/4 and it's the same issue?
ASKER
I tried on 5 earlier and same issue. I can try 4.
Try another PC, it seems the issue from the pc
ASKER
Yes, same thing, now 4 is down. Switch looking like Christmas Tree. My laptop is working.
Sorry I didn't get you please explain
ASKER
When I connect my laptop to a port on same switch, my laptop works. When I plug into this device, SKALA NEXUS, it kills the port and port turns orange.
And why you're connecting to skala?
ASKER
It's a data logger for our production line.
