Need help migrating from Access to SQL Server

I have a number of date fields in my Access database.  In some cases I store just the date, in other cases, I store the date and time in my Access table.

I am migrating to SQL and the wizard selected datetime(2) as the type.  When I attempt to append info to these fields I am getting error message
set x fields to null due to a type conversion error."

Changing the type to datetime does not help.

If I change the type to nvarchar(50) I get no errors nad everything works as expected.

I do allow nulls.. any suggestions?

Thak you
