Pronounce 3,142

How do you pronounce 3.1, 3.14 and 3.142 in American English?

ASKER

Doesn't help much since 3 decimal 142 can be pronounced "three decimal one four two" or "three decimal one hundred and forty two"

To understand how you say things you really need to spell it out in letters.
In my experience It depends

If you're referring to monetary or quantity amounts, then Three-Hundred sixty-six would be prevalent

However if you're referring to an address etc then 3-6-6 would more likely be prevalent

As far as "decimal", I've heard and have used decimal and even "dot". I can't really recall hearing much less ever using "point"

It is specifically decimal fractions that I ask about. In UK 2.42 is "two point four two" not "two point forty two" but is that the same in USA?

Thanks all, same way I was taught to say it in UK.
