Disconnecting a host with powered-on virtual guests

So we may want to relocate a pair of hosts but have powered-on guest on it to another vCenter.  Can I do a disconnect and then reconnect that host but with powered-on guests with it?

All you need to do, is Remove those VMs from the Inventory (not delete from disk)

and all will be okay.

So yes, Power On, remove from inventory and your are done.;

So I can't just disconnected a host with powered-on guests, but I need to remove from inventory the VM(s), then do a disconnect of the host, then re-add the VM into the host?

I am moving the hosts to a different vCenter and then at some point decommissioning the hosts.  I thinking of moving the hosts then I can storage vMotion the guests to other hosts in the target vCenter.
