Windows server 2016, activation code/lic info required for re-install?
Hey there
I have a client with a win2k16 standard server, and they misplaced the licensing info. Is there anyway to recover/view the required lic/activation info, should the OS ever need to be reinstalled? The purchase goes back to april 2018. Direct from the installed OS? Or a dept from our friends at Microsoft?
Thanks!

wasn't sure if jelly bean needed to be installed OR if it would show the OS lic info.
Single standard license came from techdata, can try their sales dept. I am sure this happens quite a bit there must be a way.

If it is a retail, you best run the keyfinder/jelly bean. I am unsure ..
If you have a receipt, you could reach out to the MS and find out.
Keyfinder might not need by installed, though it is not clear whether.
You always have the 120 eval period to expedite the process.
But a retail is more difficult usually they come with a COA that should be afixed to the system.

the issue might be if it is a Volume License.
If they have a receipt from whom they purchased, it may help identify if it is a VLCS type at which point, it could be accessed there...
