Audacity: Turns on my MacBook's Fan, which causes recording isues

I thought I had a pretty advanced MacBook:

BUT, when I start recording in Audacity, the fax starts blowing up a storm...

And then, the sound bleeds onto the recording.

What's that all about? Do I have the latest Mac OS? Is Audacity a processor hog?

Should I elevate my MacBook above the plastic table top I use as my desk?

I have my mic plugged into a behringer U-PHORIA UM2 and use a CODEX connection to the USB, which I convert to USB-C. Shall I get myself a new cable that goes direct from behringer to USB-C?

Thanks

Check out external cooling options.

Make sure your heat sink is not plugged up.

what is a heat sink? My PC is three months old, so I doubt there's any dust yet. But, where shall I check? I live in a dusty apt.

And what kinds of cooling options are safe for a MacBook? I had heard, years ago, cooling tables could actually endanger the processor...
You could use a co2 clean

The fan kicks in when the CPU temperature rises above a certain level.

Look at putting sonething to filter on the intake after the cleanup.

There are cooling, meaning one which will push air through up. This will provide higher air flow

Did you just recently began using audacity or did it just recently began kicking the fan on.

Check whether osX has gadgets that monitor the CPU temperature, etc.
https://www.eidac.de/ You can try the smcFanControl app.
