Troubleshooting Question

Apple mail app unable to authenticate O365 account on iPad/iPhone after password change.

Last Modified: 2021-03-09
I have multiple iPads and iPhones that on initial setup of a business O365 mail account, (Exhange) it works fine. After I enter the account information and then click on sign in, it will open up a web page asking me if it is a work acccount or a personal account. I choose work account and then page will change to enter the password. I do that and then it will send me a text for multi-factor authentication.
My problem exists when our passwords change. After changing the password, the iOS device will prompt for the new password to be entered. I go into Settings -> Mail -> Accounts-> and choose the account and click on re-enter password. When I do, it takes me out to the page that asks to choose work or personal account. I click on work account and then it goes away for a split second and then returns. No matter how many times I choose work account, it keeps coming back.
It just will not go any farther and will not authenticate.
Anyone have any ideas why it initially authenticates and works but will not authenticate after password change?
