Audacity is causing fan to come on
I have a pretty advanced 8-core processor and am stunned my PC has trouble recording...the fan noise cause me not to be able to record...
I bought WavePad (NCH Software) and had the same problem with MP3 output. When I switch to AVI, it stopped the fan from coming on. But, I prefer using Audacity.
Is there some quality reduction I can make in the settings?

It's directional and perfect for blocking noise, which reduces the number of retakes due to a car driving by, or other noises...
I plug that into a behringer UM2, which plugs into my mac directly, with a UCB-C
As far as recording to a different audio format, Audacity has its own format, but lets you Export to any format.
