Background: I'm dipping my toe back into Sharepoint after an extended absence and looking for guidance. My experience with the product dates back to SP 2007 and MOSS, which soured me to the point of not returning until 2016. I built a SP 2016 instance and tinkered, but nothing came of it. Flash forward to 2019, and my company has fresh new Windows Serer 2019 licenses for VMs and a demo Sharepoint 2019 in-prem to play with. We are not in the market of moving it to Office 365.
I'm looking to use some new templates as a new HR/Intranet portal. I recently came across some great templates at lookbook.microsoft.com
and now reading that you can't import them directly into your instance unless you're O365 in the cloud.
If this is accurate, is there a way to import them into SP2019 on-prem?
Are there any other templates (new to 2019) that have stuck out to you that you'd recommend for a simple but flashy company intranet site collection?
Thanks for any recommendations you can provide.
