When using Microsoft Access via Citrix Workspace it opens Read Only
If I open Access via Citrix Workspace with this argument, it works fine.
\\DATABASES\Access2015$\MaryM\2010\sp.accde /excl. It is pointing to a specific users folder.
However, I cannot add a specific APP to Workspace for each user to open Access.
I am sure someone on EE is using Citrix Workspace and running Access.

Hi,
Can you try to have one batch instead (having excl command inside), to open Access file?

JR,
<<However, I cannot add a specific APP to Workspace for each user to open Access. >>
Typically one would map a drive letter based on the user (and I usually do that through Active Directory, remote sessions), then have one shortcut that utilized the drive letter.
ie.
'X' is mapped to:
\\DATABASES\Access2015$\MaryM
Then the shortcut points to:
C:\....\MSACCESS.EXE "X:\2010\sp.accde" /excl
So the shortcut is the same for everyone and can be a published app, but the mapping of the 'X' drive is different for each.
Jim.

Jim As far as I know and I am still learning Citrix Workspace I do not believe I can map a drive for 40 users
Gustav, I'll read your article
Peter, please explain.

Gustav. I tried running the accde on the local computer. Extremely slow.
The local computer only runs the Citrix client (desktop).
The installation is supposed to be on the virtual desktop.
That is, as a Citrix environment typically is hosted on very powerful hardware, extremely fast.

Sorry, but you script was to difficult for e to follow.
It makes ZERO sense why when I try to open the database it opens in read only.

Then read it and the article again. Everything is commented carefully, and the script takes care of all the steps needed to have an Access application running successfully and updated at minimum efforts and - quite important - with no requirement of support from the Citrix admins.
Nothing about Citrix is a five-minute task, every detail count, and there are no shortcuts.

Let me make a correction, we "Have" been using Access on Citrix for over 15 years. When I use Citrix Workspace from a browser, that is when it opens in read only.
I see. That changes the scenario.
But I have only worked with the installed desktop client, so I have no clue, sorry.

Thanks. This is very frustrating.

Thanks so much
For a large client, I solved this with a script, allowing the user to just double-click one shortcut for the Access application to be refreshed and launched. I turned it into an article:
Deploy and update a Microsoft Access application in a Citrix environment
