Why can't my 4096 sector USB HDD disk be imaged?

Why can't my 4096 sector USB disk be imaged?

Using an imaging tool, I've getting the message that the DESTINATION disk must be of the same sector size?

I format the Destination disk with NTFS 4096 sector size but keep on getting the same error message;

So, can anyone explain why some disks of different sector sizes can't be imaged or cloned normally?

This is usually due to the way the USB disk enclosure reports its format
Try connecting both drives via SATA

A destination disk should be blank before cloning a source disk. Please POST the "imaging tool" name and version.

andyalder is correct.  The NTFS formatted cluster size is (OK, mostly) independent of the drive hardware sector size.  The imaging tool is complaining that the target drive is an older one with 512 byte sectors.
It's possible the destination is natively 4K but set to 512e, if that's the case the manufacture may have a tool to flip it from 512e to 4K. Need make/model of target to advise further.

Guys thanks - problem solved.

I was imaging to a Crucial BX SSD - NTFS 4096 sector size.

So I changed the destination disk this to a Toshiba MQ01ABD100 (which even had Advanced Format logo on it!)
and disk finally imaged.

Obviously the physical sector size makes the real difference.

Problem Solved!

Masq, Strivoli, Andy and Dr. Klan - a big thank you!

BTW, anybody know why some disk manufacturers make external HDDs with non-standard sector size?
It is a standard.   The problem with standards is that there are so many of them  :->
