Either using a screenshot tool or a SVG plugin.

I don't understand that. A right-click on an image in any modern browser (Brave, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) will give you a Save Image As. It will save it as whatever file type it is (such as the PNG file at the EE FAQ page) and then you can upload it to ICOConvert to create the icon file.

> Just download the favicon.ico file from the site

Nice, although that icon file has only three sizes in it...48x48, 32x32, 16x16.
That what icons are.  How big do you need it?

serialband, how do you come to that location? it works, but i do not understand how you got there
Hi serialband,
All the software that I develop is for Windows client-side (not the web), so I create icons that are 256x256 (and I often use the 256x256 PNG files from which they came in the doc...user guides/manuals). That way, the icons will scale nicely when users select a View of Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large icons in Windows/File Explorer (or whatever file manager they use). This is especially important for visually impaired users and in some other usage situations, such as a laptop screen that is somewhat far away from the user, in which case the Extra Large icons View is really helpful. For example, here are screenshots of the Medium, Large, and Extra Large views with the EE favicon that you found and the 200x200 one that I created from the PNG file at the FAQ page:

Meh...  Favicon just goes in the tabs, at least on all my browsers these days.  It doesn't need to be large.  Apple used to have  6 color 40x20 or 40x24 graphics, if you took out the last 4 lines of text too, and people were fine with that.

@nobus
I just looked at the source for the favicon link.  It's a standard feature of webpages.  If there's an Icon in your tab, then there's a favicon, although it use to be in the URL bar where the security padlock is now.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon
Meh
Meh back at you. :) My use of icons has nothing whatsoever to do with tabs in browsers. It is all about icons on the Windows desktop, and that's what nobus is talking about, as he said, "i made a shortcut to EE on my desktop".
It doesn't need to be large.
Yes, it does, in some cases, such as the reasons that I mentioned above, e.g., visually impaired users, or one of my personal favorite uses of extra large icons...a small laptop screen 10 feet away that is connected to my big screen TV and controlled via my remote control keyboard from the couch...gotta be able to see the Netflix icon and others. :) Regards, Joe
