Visio 2013 - I created a brand new shape. How can I add new "snap to" points so that lines are easily connected to my new shape??

How can I add "connecting points" to my new shape so that whenever I attach a line it will snap to this connecting point?  (I'm not sure I'm using the correct terms.)

There was some good discussion about this in this earlier question, it should help you out.

To amplify one comment made in the video Bill provided above: be sure you select the target shape before Ctrl+clicking to add a connection point on the edge. I can tell you from experience that it's easy to accidentally add a connection point to the page and not the edge of the shape. However, selecting the shape first makes the edge more apparent and reduces the change of clicking a tiny bit off the shape and on the page by mistake.
