Supplying Power to Ubiquiti Mesh Units

I need portable power for a ubiquiti mesh unit that can power the unit for up to 6 hours.  I am currently using a car battery and an inverter but that is way to cumbersome.  I tried to connect it to a small power unit with an Ethernet adapter and connected the adapter to the POE port on the mesh but that doesn't work.  any ideas would be much appreciated!
