I'm issues getting my laptop's firewall to allow inbound traffic. I've attached a screenshot of the issue, there no option to Allow inbound. I've sifted through GPO but cant find the correct path.
We need deeper background on this issue to give appropriate assistance.
What evidence indicates that inbound connections are not occurring?
Are there any programs which have open ports and are listening on those ports?
Have you downloaded a copy of Microsoft TCP View to look at what ports are open, and tried to connect to those ports using another system on the same network?
Also, your PC is probably controlled by the domain, so unless you're an admin, you can't configure your firewall. If you ARE the admin, configure the GPO properly. Computer > Windows > Security > Windows Defender Firewall.. > Inbound rules
We have a laptop that use as our mobile SecurityCenter (Tenable) scanner. I've got the scanning laptop and one of our offline systems connected to a small 5 port HP switch, with the following Scanning laptop 192.1.2.4 other system 192.1.2.8
I can ping the scanning laptop but the scanning laptop cannot ping the other system.
I removed system from domain & removed corp. End Point (McAfee).
Note: This is not the same as disabling incoming TCP connections. ping, tracert and the other low-level utilities use ICMP which is a different protocol.
Not sure why, but I re-joined to domain this morning, now everything works fine. Thank you all for the comments.
