Windows server 2016 and a failed MS update
I have run the update check on our Windows 2016 server and it starts downloading 2021-01 Update for Windows Server 2016 KB4589210 . It stops at 20% downloading and never finishes. I have even waited until the next day. I reboot and it starts the download again and stops at 20%. I have even tried to download the update maually and install it and it fails.

Now it is stuck at Stopping on the services.
Task Manager --> Processes --> Windows Update --> End Task.
Open Services -> set the Windows Update service to Disabled and reboot. After you reboot, delete C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution. Then install the update manually.
