Word mailmerge number format

Hello,
Please find attached a sample document.
In the fields: Price, Total in CHF, Subtotal, MwSt & Total I want the format to be like shown in Total
i.e. the number should be with ' separator as we use that in Switzerland.
I am filling the number from another application which is basically a form, however that plays no role.

Many Thanks

I think the biggest issue is that Word doesn't have number formatting like Excel does. Your best bet is to either make sure the numbers in other app are formatted properly OR bring the data into Excel first and have that be the source of your merge data

I know, however it seems ' is a reserved format, so was wondering if someone could help.
Getting the data from Excel is not an option.

If you right click on the merge filed, you get the following dialogue; one of the options in the left hand pane is NumWords and the right hand pane looks like it gives an option for numeric formatting.

Thanks Rob!
Is it too much to ask if you could kindly make that in one field & attach the document?
Many Thanks

After NumWords, it is basically putting static value...Sample.docx

Just realised what the NumWords field does, it is the number of words in the document; I was thinking it was a number in words with optional number formatting.

So what do you suggest?
Rob Henson

Only idea I can think of is to have an Excel sheet embedded into the Word document or do it all in Excel.

Thanks
But that's not the option, as the data comes from form of other application
Rob Henson

What is the other application? There might be someone on here who knows the application and can advise.

Using a single quote in the number format will cause Word to give an error about unbalanced quotes. However, you could use a prime symbol (U2032 = ′) instead. The screenshot below shows the result of formatting a number without any formatting switch and with a switch specifying a prime as the thousands separator. The visibility of the field codes for each are displayed by pressing Alt-F9.
Note that in Word, you can get a Unicode symbol by entering its code and pressing Alt-x. For the prime symbol above, I typed 2032 and pressed Alt-x; pressing it a second time changes it back to its Unicode sequence.

Hi Eric,
Thanks
Sorry that's complicated, is it possible that you can set one example in the document I attached?
