If your internal domain is already <a rel="ugc nofollow" target="_blank">abc.com</a> then you just need to create a new host record named WWW and point it to the external IP as MAS has indicated above.<br><br>You can also create a new zone called <a rel="ugc nofollow" target="_blank">www.abc.com</a> and create a new host record with a BLANK name and point it to the external IP.<br><br><br>

Your likely issue is once you hit your added www.abc.com&nbsp;that points to X.y.z.a, the site redirects you to abc.com which resolves to your local ip.<br />
<br />
You have to double check your external web host and alter its config to stop redirecting to abc.com<br />
<br />
On your local iis server ( which is odd that you gave iis running on a DB,) you could configure a redirect for abc.com to be refirected to www.abc.com<br />
<br />
Commonly, it was normally to use a domain using the local or private suffix, though newer scheme where public domain suffixes are used for AD do sins, is to use a three level myaddomain.abc.com as an example.

Sorry for the delay, I do have a WWW A record for the external site but users were hitting the IIS on a DC that is also a Cert Auth. &nbsp;Once I shut down the IIS we were able to get to the website.<br><br>Thank you for your responses.

Need help in what type of record needs to be built in a Windows DNS for our external website.  Our domain is named 
abc.com
 internally, when I build a A record to point to
www.abc.com
which is on an external server I get the IIS page of one of our internal domain controllers the PDC.  This seems to be because of the (Same as Parent Folder) records?  How can I set DNS so that when a user from inside the network wants to go to our external website they get there and not the IIS page of the DC?
