Latency delay problem when recording digitally (out of sync) because the PC just can't keep up.

Latency is a problem when recording digitally. It makes it exceedingly difficult to sync with a metronome when the other prerecord tracks are out of sync because the PC just could not keep up. Is there a latency work around that I am not aware of?
PC -- Dell – 64 GB Ram – Intel i9-9900K 3.6 GHz CPU – 64 bit Windows 10 operating system
Adobe Audition build 14.1.0.43 Subscription
Various keyboards - input to – Focusrite – input to -- PC
Audio Hardware section:
Devise class “MME”
Default input “Analogue 1 + 2 (Focusrite USB Audio)”
