changing ip address of 1 computer for sharing out folder

I have setup a shared folder on a computer that anyone can access and I have people search for the computer using ip address and then map the network drive.  This computer needs to be changed out due to a hard drive issue.  Can I change the ip address of the computer mentioned above to another ip and then transfer the original ip to the new computer I am setting up and have all users who had mapped the drive contrinue to access the shared folder with no issues or will I run into problems and need another solution to accomplish this?

These are win 10 pro computers on a windows 2012 server environment.

peer to peer or domain based?

note the mappings will fail as the information stored based on computer name not based on IP.

server1 shareone mapped as u:

might not work if you switch oout server1 for server2 using the same IP and the same share name shareone.

server based mappings, have to be reset.

If you are in an AD environment, you are better off considering using DFS.

In a server with a Bad drive, why not simply clone the drive as it exists, and then swap them?
