NTFS - File System Corrupt

Windows 2008 server is generating Event 55 - NTFS file system is corrupt. Ran chkdsk d: shows no error, however chkdsk d: /f fails with the message that volume is in use and needs to be dismounted.
System is still generating Event 55, and shows error in disk management, could someone please guide me on this.

Checkdisk can not repair a drive if it is mounted, so you have to dismount it. If it is the system partition, it will happen with the next reboot.
