Native VLAN Causes VM Portgroup to Fail

Points of My Scenario:

1. I started building physical ESXi hosts by PXE boot - using trunked network ports (it works/is successful)

2. The "Native VLAN" feature is configured on the trunked network ports

3. HOWEVER: when a VM portgroup is created using the native VLAN's ID, it does not work anymore (no network access).

4. VM portgroups using this ID only work when connected to trunked network ports that are NOT configured with native VLAN.

QUESTION: How can I use the native VLAN's ID in a VM portgroup so that both can work?

I guess if you use a VLAN ID on the network interface, the connected port on the switch should be a tagged port.

Hi Bembi, are you suggesting to configure a VLAN ID on the network interface of the VM I am trying to connect?

Hello,

I interpreted your comment, that you tried to set a VLAN ID.
Native VLANs do not have an ID set (or possibly 0 in some cases) and the port on the switch is not tagged.
This is what some one also said.
