How do i add a USB Device from an ESXi Host to a Virtual Machine

Hi

We have VMWare infrastructure and version 6.7 installed. We have our SQL server and Veeam server.
We have a Dell PowerEdge R640 ESX host I have an external hard disk USB3 hardisk and I have plugged it into ESX host 2.
Now I would like to map the external hard disk to the Veeam server so that on the Veeam console,  I can click Export Backup  – select the SQL server VM and point to the mapped external hard disk to backup.

I have not Added a USB Device from an ESXi Host to a Virtual Machine
Please post me step by step to do this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Andrew

If I am correct first I need to add the USB Controller to the virtual machine.
and then add Add USB Device to the virtual machine?
Yes, as per my article, if you are not sure of the exact steps!

Just a little note, not all USB devices are compatible, and performance can be slow.
Amazing thank you so much  Andrew
All working great :)
