Azure Information Rights Management - Activate Encryption while Using Outlook
Been on Office 365 for a while. I wanted to test the Encryption in Outlook. I get an error message when I select 'Encryption' menu. When I click ' Connect to Rights Management server and get templates'.
So I guess Azure Information Protection/Management isn't activated? When I go to Azure, can I get the templates downloaded or do I need to create the template myself?
Anyway, I am stuck on the steps to activate the encryption in desktop Outlook.
Also want to be able to write in the subject: 'encrypt, encryption, secure, secured' to activate the encryption in Outlook.
I have activated: Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Azure Information Protection.
I also created a work account on Azure.
Thanks!

All I want to do is send an encrypted email message taking the defaults from desktop Outlook.
So one issue was we didn't have the proper license. So I added an E3 license.
1) added E3 license
2) Logged out and back into my office account.
3) Will reinstall office with new license
Is there any settings in Azure I need to change? I was told I didn't need to.

If it is working don't change anything!

Encryption is a subset of information protection - decryption is determined be the access rights and identity of the user.
So you can't just turn this on. You need to think about who can un-encrpytthe data, and how you are going to identify them.
This might all seem a bit intimidating but you really need to define what and why you want to encrypt your data, and who and what can de-crypt it and how.

Information Protection and Governance | Microsoft 365
Microsoft has recently sort of merged Azure Information Protection (AIP) into Office 365 and renamed it Microsoft Information protection. (MIP). If you don't have any infrastructure the best place to start is the Office 365 compliance center.
