Information protection needs a bit of thought before implementing it. You need to define your levels of protection (or at least accept that standard ones) before you can use them.<br>Encryption is a subset of information protection - decryption is determined be the access rights and identity of the user.<br>So you can't just turn this on. All I want to do is send an encrypted email message taking the defaults from desktop Outlook. <br><br>So one issue was we didn't have the proper license. So I added an E3 license.<br><br>1) added E3 license<br>2) Logged out and back into my office account.<br>3) Will reinstall office with new license <br><br>Is there any settings in Azure I need to change? &nbsp;I was told I didn't need to.<br><br>

Azure Information Rights Management - Activate Encryption while Using Outlook

Encryption is the process of encoding messages or information in such a way that only authorized parties can read it. In an encryption scheme, the intended communication information or message, referred to as plaintext, is encrypted using an encryption algorithm, generating ciphertext that can only be read if decrypted. For technical reasons, an encryption scheme usually uses a pseudo-random encryption key generated by an algorithm. An authorized recipient can easily decrypt the message with the key provided by the originator to recipients, but not to unauthorized interceptors.

Encryption

Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager from Microsoft, available as a part of the Microsoft Office suite. Although often used mainly as an email application, it also includes a calendar, task manager, contact manager, note-taker, journal, and web browser.

Outlook

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform and infrastructure for building, deploying and managing applications and services through datacenters. It provides both platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) services and supports many different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems. Cloud Services is a PaaS environment and can be used to create scalable applications and services; there are specific software development kits (SDKs) provided by Microsoft for Python, Java, Node.js and .NET. Azure also has file and storage services, data management, analytics and DNS services.
