Failover cluster manager can not start role for DFS Named space
Dear All,
recently i have installed 2 x server 2019 standard for clustering purpose for DFS, 2 shared storage has been configured on both server with witness disk 1GB and other 40GB for DFS Named space use, but when i click on configure role for dfs Namespace server, suppose the server name with hkhhkwpfilbda06 will be created automatically in DNS as A record and also computer object hkhhkwpfilbda06 will be created itself in AD, but in my company environment, this wont happen, headquarter IT provided us a AD portal to managing domain user creation and deletion, when computer joining to domain, we first need to create the computer name by ourselves in the AD portal, so in this case hkhhkwpfilbda06 server name wont be created itself when i configuring dfs Namespace under failover cluster manager, then i need to create hkhhkwpfilbda06 server name manually in the AD portal, also for the DNS A record for server hkhhkwpfilbda06, after i created when i start the Role, it failed, the event details said hkhhkwpfilbda06 failed to create its associated computer object in domain access is denied.
Please work with your domain administrator to ensure that:
- The cluster identity 'HKHHKWPSVCCLU01$' has Create Computer Objects permissions. By default all computer objects are created in the same container as the cluster identity 'HKHHKWPSVCCLU01$'.
- The quota for computer objects has not been reached.
- If there is an existing computer object, verify the Cluster Identity 'HKHHKWPSVCCLU01$' has 'Full Control' permission to that computer object using the Active Directory Users and Computers tool.
hkhhkwpsvcclu01 is a clustering node name for the 2 x server 2019 server, does it means i lacking of right for this computer object in AD ? any help would be appreicated

Dear 65td,
HKHHKWPSVCCLU01 computer name has been created in AD, and the 2 nodes computer name are located in the same OU as HKHHKWPSVCCLU01, since i do not have access into the DNS in AD, i need to check with headquarter IT team to check, does it means HKHHKWPSVCCLU01 need to grant full control in DNS ? how about dfs cluster for Named space for hkhhkwpfilbda06 ? Thanks
Keith

Has the AD computer object named 'hkhhkwpfilbda06' been created, is it in the same OU as the rest of the cluster object and does the cluster name have at least modify or change and read?

Dear Lawrence Tse,
it works after granted access to the AD Object HKHHKWPSVCCLUS01, thanks so much for your help, and i have one more question, can DFS Cluster add DFS Named space for the server that using Refs permission, but i dont need replication in DFS, Thanks

Are the nodes in the same container as the cluster name and cluster name have full control on the node name and in DNS?
