Getting "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration on Windows 10

Hi Expert,

I have a laptop which i switched from LAN to wifi then back to LAN and I am getting "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration' when run a diagnose. The adapter is showing "Unidentified Network", Wifi connection is all good also.

Below are things I have tried.

- Check on device manager and driver have latest driver, uninstall Lan adapter and install back
- I have restarted the router and so far my other pc and laptop have no issue at home
- Changed Lan cable and checked on lan port for loose, also switch lan port
- Ping loopback and getting respond
- Give a static IP address
- Reset TCP/IP > netsh Winsock, reset netsh int IP reset
- Try to clear the network cache, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /renew, failed at ipconfig/ renew and getting "No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection*"
- Tried a winsock reset netsh winsock reset, netsh winsock reset catalog, netsh int ip reset

* When done the adobe wifi connection is on

Done with above all and have no luck, appreciate if any expert can advice or assist me on this strange issue.

Thanks!

You might try this:

Go to Device Manager.  Disable the WiFi interface.  Alternatively, if the laptop is capable of disabling it in the BIOS or by switch, turn it off.

Turn off the system.

Plug into the LAN.  Turn the system on.  If the LAN connection comes up, check the properties and confirm that TCPv4 and TCPv6 are enabled.  If so, proceed with network configuration.
Try deleting the adapter from Device Manager and then restarting. Windows will reinstall it.

See if that cures the issue.

It's also possible that the adapter hardware has faulted. Do you have a USB cabled network adapter handy that you could plug in temporarily to see if that cures it?

Eg: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=USB+Network+Adapter&ref=nb_sb_noss

Finally, please run an ipconfig /all command in a DOS window and post the results in your next comment.
Just my own personal opinion, but I would highly recommend that you don't do the following that's mentioned in the article nobus linked to.

To fix various PC problems, we recommend DriverFix:
This software will keep your drivers up and running, thus keeping you safe from common computer errors and hardware failure.

Not just DriverFix either. ANY automatic driver updating software (unless supplied by the manufacturer) should always be avoided IMO. Update your hardware drivers manually and save yourself a ton of headaches. In my lifetime of fixing PCs, I've had to repair so many problems that were a direct result of that type of software stuffing up that I personally consider them malware or PuPs at the very least.

I've also seen even the occasional Windows generic driver that comes down with Windows update sometimes over-write older manufacturer OEM drivers and cause hardware problems as a result. Driver updates should never be done automatically IMO.
i agree fully with Andrews comment on automatic updates - they always "find" new drivers to justify their existence
but i must say there were a couple of difficult to find drivers that they found - and fixed
so if you use them use the program once - and uninstall it
to expand - i avoid all "auto" settings where i can !
I second what Andrew has said above about third party driver finders / updaters.

<tangentially off-topic>
I would go further in light of postings regarding certain two-letter-manufacturer printers:  Don't allow any software to update anything automatically. Sit back and wait a few months to see what it did and what complaints followed.  E.g., updates were pushed for said printers that make it impossible to use third party ink, put strict expiration dates on cartridges, and make it impossible to back out updates.

Hi Expert,

Out of suddenly network down and I restarted router, but the laptop still having same issue. Strangely in the morning tried again the Lan connection surprising working again, I guess is the router have issue or ISP did something and the the laptop itself unable to renew the IP address due to this error "No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection*

Once again thanks all experts for the time and advice.
