How to modify the bios from within windows on an Optiplex 3080

Hi,

I have a remote optiplex 3080 running server 2019. I want to modify the bios settings to turn on after a loss of AC power in the building. Is their anyway of doing it safely from within windows?

Thank you.

No, you can't modify the bios from within your OS. With an EFI bios you can only tell your OS to boot to the bios settings. But one there, you won't have a connection to the PC.

Not without an ip KVM.

Since it is not a server platform, it does not have idrac (light out management) nor ipmi support which are the common means by which changes to bios could be made.

i have seen bios updates done from a file in windows on hp systems - but they caused a reboot, to actually do the update
but i am unaware if such method exists for DEll    PC

There is Intel AMT remote management but it's off by default. There is a config utility for Windows for it at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/30340?v=t so theoretically you could enable and configure for remote KVM, reboot and get into CMOS settings that way. AMT can also power it on if you accidentally shut it down.

I wouldn't say it was safe to do though unless you have one locally as well that you can experiment with.
