When trying to install software using Web Platform Installer 5.0 I get the same error: "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package This product did not download successfully: "

Whenever I try to install software using Web Platform installer I get the same error: "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
This product did not install successfully: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.  I checked my Programs and Features and it is listed under installed programs.  So I don't understand
1. Why it is even trying to download and install it again
2. Why it doesn't understand that it's already installed.

For example I just tried to install Drupal and I got this error so it stops the install at that point.

I'd still suggest you download it and install it BEFOREhand.

Install BOTH 32 and 64 bits to cover your bases.

Hello @Kimputer.  Thanks for the response.  You are also helping me with my other question.  Both questions are for the same problem.  I tried a different way to install Drupal and that's the error I'm getting.  I've installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the Microsoft Visual C++  Redistributable Package. I've included screenshots to show you what I have.  You will notice on the left I have it installed but on the right the installer doesn't recognize it.

It doesn't really matter though, you don't need to install anything through Web Platform Installer. You got PHP and MySQL working already.
Just go here: https://www.drupal.org/download
Download and unzip in the root folder, it's basically already installed (except the setup, which is just going through the database/username/password steps).

Hello, just to add some comments...
The Web Platform Installer is something like an "APP store" like on your handy.
It can have sometimes advantages, as it may have some presets for IIS, but it offers also older stuff so I would not rely on all offered items there.
There are a few single items you can only download via the Web Platform Installer, but most of the items you can also download from other sources.
I usually use the original sources  to be sure, to get the latest version.

Hello @Kimputer.  I've downloaded all the files to the root folder.  I also download and unzipped the drupal-7.81 files to the same folder.  Now I don't understand how Drupal works from there.  For example,  for most sites I host on this server I go into IIS create the website and point it to the site directory and when I go to localhost and the site name the site pops up. How does that work with Drupal.  Is there a certain web address I go to in order to set up the site?

Thank  you @Bembi.  I've abandoned Web Installer and did each piece individually.  That's what took me so long to respond.  I started completely over.  Again.

Hello @Kimputer.  I think I answered my own question while asking you.  All I had to do was go to localhost/drupal and the installer began.  So now I have Drupal installed on Windows Server 2012 R2.  You CANNOT use Web Platform Installer.

Thank you @Kimputer for all your help with this.  I have been trying for months to get this stuff to work and it just won't because WPI kept giving me different errors on each install.  It always had errors. The correct answer to this question is to NOT use Web Platform Installer.  It doesn't work most of the time and it installs old software.  It is best to install everything manually.
