I have not used the PHP specific editors like Storm - I started with Notepad++ (which I &nbsp;thought was pretty good) and migrated to Visual Studio Code and then never looked back.<br><br>For a free editor VC Code is the best I have seen (although I must conceded that I have not tried them all - so this is my subjective view).<br><br>I do know that editors like PHPStorm provide a host of PHP specific features that can be really useful - however my work involves coding not only in PHP but TypeScript, Python, Powershell, Flutter etc - so one IDE that handles all those is a win for me - and VS Code fits the bill.<br><br>I have no personal knowledge of Coffee - but what I can say (from experience) is that I personally find editors that do too much for you are actually counter-productive. The "helpful" functionality often gets in the way - I know what I want to do and to have an editor trying to be helpful getting in the way can (at times be annoying). I am not claiming Coffee does this - just that in general whenever there is a claim that an editor makes your programing task easier - you need to consider it very carefully - there is a diminishing returns principle in "helpful editing" which at some point can become a detractor (although this limit is different for everyone).

VS Code looks good but I am concerned about the FTP functions. It appears to not be built in and you need to use an extension. One of them is FTP-Simple and you need to set up a JSON string. Is there a simpler way of doing this?

Everything in VS Code is through extensions - that is what makes it so powerful. VS Code gives you the basics and you extend this with plugins.<br><br>There are various FTP integration extensions - I use the SFTP extension on projects where I need to push to a remote location (not many as I use a pipeline that involves first pushing to Git).

👍Visual Studio Code.<br>I moved from Coda and never looked back. Also saved a chunk of cash.<br><br>And Tailwind CSS is AMAZING!! I hope it takes over for that Bootstrap madness...
