How to apply a GPO startup script once and not reapply

I know in the past I have run a GPO, but set it to only run once. It's been awhile, so I was searching the internet on how to do this. It looks like you need to create an "Immediate Task" within Scheduled Tasks of the GPO (https://kbase.io/create-a-group-policy-object-gpo-to-run-a-script-only-once/). I thought there was an easier way to run a GPO only once, or is this the only way to accomplish this?
