Does GIT provide a way to prevent users from updating the same branch at the same time?

We have an integration branch which multiple users merge their finished work into. Does GIT provide a way to prevent two users from merging into this branch at the same time?

(If not GIT, then, is there some other way we can prevent this from happening, aside from word of mouth? Some sort of Queue that users can submit their name to when they are ready to merge?)

[Perhaps Microsoft Office 365 provides some sort of Group Task Queue? We're transitioning to Office 365 but are unfamiliar with it.]
